FOOD ! Comida popular de Boricuas.

Do you know what is the 9th wonder of the world? Yes you guessed right! Food!!
As a guy, I have intimate relationships with different cultural foods here and there, and it’s great! Now that I have been in here in Puerto Rico for almost 3 months, I have experienced food that will change your date for your flight back home.

I’ll start naming them in order of my droll scale.

Droll trace from home to the restaurant
The most popular food you will here around here is: Mofongos! Yes, those banany delicious plates that you just wanna slap to give it more flavor, yes those.
Made from plantains

Droll trace of me coming from a pouring day
The other popular food that you might see in a lot of signs as you drive though beach kiosks is: Pinchos! Yes, those shishkabab looking beauties that when you just had a few drinks will eat like a hungry giant, yes those.
It is mainly pieces of pork in a stick, this has has tostones

Droll trace all over my shirt
As we come down from the popularity scale, we reach more banany foods, fabulous! This dark looking food is actually tastier and sweeter than it looks, I present you: Pastelon. Yes, those burnt-lasagna looking pieces that will surprise you on the first bite you take, yes those.
Pastelon made out of banonoes and beef, accompanied by juca fries (not that great).

Droll trace of a sweaty man
When you check out the beach, you might find these tasty cheap little snacks that will blow your mind, we call them: Empanadas. Yes, those sweet-bread looking pieces of homemade art that will stop your hunger after a nice swim at the beach, yes those.

Another small tasty snack that hits you when you least expect it is the: Bacalaito. Yes those sneaky non-appetizing looking tortillas that will wake your senses up for satisfaction, yes those.
Pretty much tasty fried flour dough

A Zorrucho looking food that is actually salty is: alcapurria. Yes, these Twinkie looking sticks with a meaty surprise in the middle, yes those.

Yuca or Gineo kinds, with cow or pig in them

Last but not least, the cheap good-tasting rice mix: arroz con gandules. Yes, this old style spanish looking plate that will fill you up and there will still be leftovers, yes those.
